Student wanted to work with 6 year old boy in Kingsville area.
We are looking for a FUN and loving student to come “play” with our 6 year old son Ben who is on the autism spectrum. Ben has a well-established home program so you will gain valuable experience working in the home setting and learning verbal behavior strategies. You also will have frequent access to a fabulous team of professionals with speech, special ed, and occupational therapy backgrounds.
Ben has a triplet brother and sister, so there are many unique opportunities to take advantage of typical peer interactions. We would like one of your therapy times to occur on Saturdays from 10a-1p so you can work with another therapist specifically on group play.
Sessions are 2-3 hours. Working with Ben involves helping him play appropriately, learn academics, and build self-help skills during meals, bathing and dressing. Mini-programs are designed for the natural environment. Developing language is a central focus. Both general and program training will be provided through Trellis Services and by pairing you with other home program staff. Team meetings are required and take place for 2 hours (around 4pm) approx. every other month. Experience with Verbal Behavior methodologies preferred.
We are conveniently located in the Kingsville area about 12 minutes from I-695 and Belair Road.
