Developmental Disability Advocacy Night in Annapolis

6 Bladen Street, Annapolis, MD 21401The Developmental Disabilities Coalition is organizing an Advocacy Night to make a final push with legislators on important issues still being debated.
According to a recent poll of Marylanders, 4 out of 5 support increased public funding for developmental disabilities. Our theme is 4 out of 5!
We will:
- brief attendees at 5:15 to help you prepare for your meetings with your legislators
- provide materials for you to give to your legislators
- be available for questions and feedback
We ask you to:
- Call your Senators and Delegates now and make appointments to visit with them between 6 and 8 pm on Monday March 22
- Attend Advocacy Night and bring friends and family to join you
- If you can’t get an appointment, please attend anyway and drop by to see the staff of your legislators, and leave materials and a note letting them know you came by to see them and ask for their support
Issues to be Addressed Likely to Include:
- SB 717 / HB 832 – The Lorraine Sheehan Health and Community Services Act of 2010 – legislation to increase the alcohol tax to fund developmental disability and other services
- SB 633 / HB 1034 – legislation to link inflation funding for developmental disability services to inflation the state budgets for itself
- SB 920 / HB 1226 – legislation to address and clarify recent changes to the Low Intensity Support Service (LISS) program
- Plus other issues still being considered by the General Assembly…
