Announcing our
Volunteer of the Year – Nelly Hamer

On why she volunteers:

“I met Trish Kane from Pathfinders for Autism a little over 8 years ago. Trish is one of the most genuine persons I have ever met. She truly is passionate about what she does and you can’t help but want to be her friend! She was who I needed to connect with when my son had just been diagnosed and I was lost. I slowly started learning more about Pathfinders for Autism and all the services they provided for our families. This is when I knew I had to get more involved. But what could I do? At the time they were in the midst of planning their first Run Wild for Autism at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore and this was my way in!

At the heart of Starbucks, we seek to inspire and nurture the human spirit – understanding that each person brings a distinct life experience to the table. Building a relationship was an easy and natural step. PFA is not only a source of information for our community but they also offer acceptance and understanding. Volunteering is one way I give back even though I know I could never volunteer enough hours to give back all that I have gotten from them.”

– Nelly Hamer, District Manager and Mid-Atlantic Starbucks Access Alliance Chair

Pathfinders for Autism is grateful for all of our incredible volunteers and the work they make possible. We are privileged to count people like Nelly among our PFA “family” and are excited to honor her years of hard work improving the lives of people with autism!

Last year alone, our volunteers contributed nearly 1,000 hours of their time. Join us in saying thank you to volunteers like Nelly, and make a donation in her honor.
