"Transitioning and College Services from Students with Disabilities" PRC Virtual Resource Training

Please join the Parent Resource Center as we host Robin Hunt from Cecil College and Kelly Wunderer from Cecil County Public School. They will go over the transition process, the supports that colleges have for students with disabilities (and how it differs from high school), and how parents can help create a smooth transition. Services range from Head Start, nutrition, affordable housing, weatherization, senior care, homeless prevention and more. This gathering presents a great opportunity for vendors with products and services that can benefit agencies serving low-income individuals and families. In addition, other service providers offering an array of services will also be in attendance.

We have established a self- advocacy group that welcomes not only the individuals with disabilities that we serve but others as well. The group is called Voices of U.S. (Unified Speakers).
All Voices of U.S meetings are held on the second Wednesday of every month from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Mid-Atlantic Main Office (2109 Laurel Bush Road, Bel Air MD, 21015).
Each meeting is a social event where people can discuss whatever recent success they have had, current events and hold fundraisers.
All attendees receive food and drink at every meeting.
Volunteers are welcomed!

Emotion Regulation: Strategies to Improve Emotional Self-Control Webinar

Webinar presented by Tana Hope, Ph.D. The Child and Family Therapy Clinic Department of Behavioral Psychology at Kennedy Krieger Institute.

VIdeo Group for Spouses/Partners of Adults with Asperger's

In this group, you will have the chance to speak with others who understand and share your experiences with issues related to being in a neurodiverse couple. Discussions are focused on learning tools and coping strategies for particular issues that arise because of the neurological differences between partners.
Presented by Christina Eagle & Program for Employment Preparedness (PEP) Students This presentation will identify ways to empower young adults with skills necessary to be successful in employment and transition plan for their next steps. It will give practical strategies to help young adults learn about their interests and preferences, as well as how to prepare them for employment. It will highlight the work at the Program for Employment Preparedness (PEP), a public post-secondary program in Arlington County, Virginia serving students with disabilities, and student participants will present their perspectives.
Parent Empowerment Conference Fall Mini Series Tired of Repeating Yourself?

Guest Speaker: Brandi Walker, PhD, (MAJ, Army), has an earnest desire to further what is known about Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and provide therapeutic expertise and researched-informed support to families. She is a graduate of the APA-accredited Clinical Psychology PhD program at Howard University. An Army clinical psychologist at Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg, NC, Dr. Walker is an active duty major who works directly with service members and their families.
She holds a Masters of Arts in Rehabilitative Counseling from the University of Maryland, College Park and obtained licensure as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LGADC) in the state of Maryland. Dr. Walker spent the last six years working with various hospitals, clinics, and schools conducting research on children with ADHD, their family and various sleep variables and environmental factors of influence. She does not represent the government, the DoD, or the US Army in any shape or form in this role. Her opinions, views, and literary works are independent and managed separately.
