What is Early Intervention?

Early Intervention refers to the coordinated services designed for infants and toddlers (and their families) who have been diagnosed with a disability or developmental delay. These services are designed to identify and meet children’s needs in five developmental areas:

• physical development;
• cognitive development;
• communication;
• social or emotional development; and
• adaptive development.

Even if my child was diagnosed later than age 2 or 3?

Remember, we operate with the information we have AT THE TIME. Do not feel guilty or believe that it is too late if your child was diagnosed after age 3, 4, or 5. It is never too late to begin intervention services.
