Network with others at a support group
What is a support group?
Support groups are groups of people that get together, either online or in person, who share a common experience.
Why do I need one?
Some of the most valuable information you will ever get is from other parents that have walked in your shoes. Other parents will share opinions that perhaps professionals are hesitant to give (i.e, opinions about another service provider). For the young adult with autism, finding either a local support group comprised of other people on the spectrum, or an online social network can help them form friendships and learn strategies that worked for other people sharing similar experiences.
