CDC Releases New Prevalence Data – Autism now affects 1 in 36 U.S. Children, up from the 1 in 44 reported in 2021.
Data released today by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) finds that Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) affect an average of 1 in 36 children in the U.S. Data was collected by the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) network using a population-based surveillance study to determine the prevalence of ASD among children aged 8. The findings are based on 11 sites, including Maryland (which has a prevalence of 1 in 43; 1 in 27 for boys, and 1 in 116 for girls).
