Maryland ABLE accounts are a new way to help individuals with disabilities save money and pay for qualified disability-related expenses without jeopardizing state or federal means-tested benefits such as SSI or Medicaid. Remember, enrollment is online, so you can enroll any time of day, any day of the week!
What you need to enroll during a pop-up enrollment:
- Social Security Number for the Beneficiary
- Social Security Number for the Authorized Legal Representative (if there is one involved)
- If you are an Authorized Legal Representative (ALR) opening an account for an adult beneficiary, you must bring a copy of your documents verifying Power of Attorney or Legal Guardianship (a limited Power of Attorney form can be found here)
- Bank account information to link to the ABLE account
