October 27, 2019Kinera's Trunk or Treat begins at 2pm and will kick off with a Sensory-friendly Trick or Treat experience for children with special needs and their families. Trick or treaters can explore the craft and games station, trick or treat at the vendors tables, all decorated for Halloween, vote for their favorite vendor display, and enjoy snacks, drinks, music and family fun.
At 3pm we open to the general public and offer a great prelude to Halloween Night, or a replacement for door-to-door trick or treating.
This is a FREE family event, but registration is recommended. -

What does 5 days, 60 days, 90 days mean to me? What is a good goal for my child? Come in with any papers or forms you have questions about. We are here to help you help your child! Dr. Culotta will review data regarding the use of networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, SnapChat, and Tumblr. Texting/sexting and safety for adolescents will be discussed. October 29, 2019Families are invited to attend a weekly play and learning time with their child: birth to age 5 of all abilities. Children will learn through play and parents/caregivers will be able to access resources and support from the staff of the Parent Resource Center. Join us for playtime, crafts, social skills, and music & movement activities.
Please note: Playgroup will not be held if schools are closed or there is a 2-hour delay. -

October 30, 2019Dr. Dan Shapiro’s Parent Child Journey – An Individualized Approach for Raising Your Challenging Child is a 10-session program for parents of children (ages preschool through early adolescence) with difficult behaviors. It is designed to help parents identify the sources of their children’s challenges and learn what they can do about them. During each session, we will discuss proactive strategies for raising children with difficult temperaments and developmental differences. The emphasis is on customizing the strategy to fit each child’s unique profile while taking parents’ profiles into account as well. Different children, different parents, different approaches.

Specializing in Autism, she has been an SEIA, a teacher, the manager of a company providing home and community based services, and an independent Education Consultant. She specialized in Autism before becoming the Education Program Coordinator at Frederick Community College. She has advocated for children and families in many settings and is interested in sharing her passion and skills with parents.
