Ballet Theatre of Maryland offers classes in two Annapolis locations. Go to www.balletmaryland.org for a complete list. Please contact Emily Carey, Conservatory Principal, at 410-224-5644 for more information regarding the Ballet Theatre of Maryland Program. The Ballet Theatre of Maryland believes in providing everyone with access and opportunity to explore movement and dance. Our adaptive dance program is an inclusive class that specializes in meeting the needs of individuals with intellectual and/or physical disabilities. This class promotes self-expression, enhances spatial awareness, improves motor skills and coordination, fosters cooperation and collaboration all while building a strong community. Students can expect to explore creative movement and learn the fundamentals of classical ballet. At the start of the first class, parents/caretakers will have the opportunity to disclose information to the instructor about the student’s disabilities/specific needs as a form of awareness to cater best to each student. They are also welcome to attend the class with their dancer if needed or desired. Students should wear comfortable clothing/athletic wear (i.e., pants, shorts, or skirts, and shirts easy can move in) and socks or ballet slippers. Leotards and tights are not required, but are welcomed. No class Sept. 26, Oct. 3-8, Nov. 23-26.
