CHILDREN WITH AUTISM AND PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH AUTISM HAVE MANY OBSTACLES; MEDICATION DELIVERRY SHOULD NOT BE ONE OF THEM. We compound medications for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) that are free of allergens found in many commercially available products. Children with ASD tend to have strong taste; color; and textural preferences. We usually obtain information upfront from the caregiver about both a child’s allergies and aversions that help our pharmacists decide on the most appropriate dosage form to use when compounding therapies for that particular child. This strategy can lead to improvements in medication adherence and make the overall experience as positive as possible for both the caregiver and child.
