I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with 23 years of experience in Applied Behavior Analysis in education, 15 of those years in a supervisory/management role.  I have worked with learners with Autism, other intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavior disorders, and mental health diagnoses in home, school, vocational, residential and community settings.  Over the last 18 years, I have provided behavior consultation to classrooms, teachers, and for specific students.  For the last 8 years, I have served as an expert witness and independent educational evaluator (i.e., program evaluations, functional behavior assessments) to screen cases for merit, review and analyze of records, conduct observations, supply written and verbal reports, define applicable standards of care and deviations, and research and evaluate the validity and reliability of research relied on by all parties.

The Arc Montgomery County After All program is a structured and closely supervised after-school and summer program for pre-teens and adolescents. Program activities vary and include computer skills development, arts and crafts, outdoor recreation, indoor games, supervised homework assistance during the school year and swimming in an outdoor pool during the summer. Emphasis is placed on providing opportunities within existing community programs for students to interact with their typically-developing peers. These opportunities include cooking classes, YMCA fitness classes, movies and sporting events. Students are encouraged to develop their independence and practice socialization skills. CHILDREN WITH AUTISM AND PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH AUTISM HAVE MANY OBSTACLES; MEDICATION DELIVERRY SHOULD NOT BE ONE OF THEM. We compound medications for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) that are free of allergens found in many commercially available products. Children with ASD tend to have strong taste; color; and textural preferences. We usually obtain information upfront from the caregiver about both a child’s allergies and aversions that help our pharmacists decide on the most appropriate dosage form to use when compounding therapies for that particular child. This strategy can lead to improvements in medication adherence and make the overall experience as positive as possible for both the caregiver and child.
