Enhances our worship with accessibility features and components for all; Supports the faith formation of students and adults with differing learning abilities; Welcomes individuals; family members and caregivers who may not be worshiping with us now and opens the doors for others in the future; Supports the dignity of life from conception to natural death; Strengthens families by including the needs of every family member in the parish; and Supports active and retired military who have service related disability including PTSD.

St. Elizabeth’s Special Needs Ministry supports parishioners with special needs family members. We collaborate with other parishes and lend a hand to service organizations focused on helping those with developmental challenges. We meet the second Monday of every month at 7:00 pm in rear meeting room of the church. Any and all are welcome.

We have begun to invite families in the parish of St James who have children with special needs to form a prayer and support group under the n and patronage of Blessed Carlos Gnocchi. The aim of the “Blessed Carlos Gnocchi” group is to make sure the families and children are welcomed to our parish community. One of the great needs expressed in our first meeting was catechetical formation for the children. These children suffer from autism; cerebral palsy; Down syndrome; and many other physical and mental disabilities. Regardless of their disabilities; we would like to prepare them to receive the sacraments and drink of the graces of Christ.

St. Jerome's Head Start is a federally funded program providing academic skills training to enable children with and without disabilities to be better prepared when entering kindergarten; thereby improving the likelihood of their success during their academic career. Comprehensive services include case management; nutritious meals; special education services; and parent support. There are nine community based sites in Baltimore City.
