Adaptive Living, Inc. (ALI) was founded in 1987 as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that provides affordable housing, food, transportation, and supervision for individuals with developmental and cognitive disabilities. ALI’s mission is to teach independent living skills and encourage social and community participation. Its residents work in the community, volunteer, or attend a day program. ALI operates in a cost-effective manner and is managed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors. ALI partners with Maryland’s Department of Human Resources which provides funding for residents and oversight by a social worker and a registered nurse.
