Respite Services of Montgomery County can help you take a well-deserved break. Respite Services is a collaboration between The Arc Montgomery County and the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services. The program provides respite care to individuals residing in Montgomery County who are unpaid caregivers living with a person with a disability or a frail senior. Respite Services offerings are tailored to a family’s particular needs and lifestyle and might include:•Referrals to screened; trained and qualified respite care provider•Information about appropriate community resources•Information for individuals interested in becoming respite care providers•Financial subsidies to qualifying families Respite services are an important part of the overall support system families need to keep loved ones at home. Families can choose from among many care venues; including the family home; community and recreational program facilities; camps and adult day programs for persons with disabilities. Services are provided based on Maryland's Respite Fee Schedule. Not all applicants qualify for subsidized respite care services. Respite Services is not an entitlement program; it is an income-based program that may provide a full or partial subsidy to pay the Respite Care Provider (RCP).
