Students who have received support services in high school often find college a difficult challenge. The demands of schedules, deadlines and independent living can be overwhelming. CareerNext at SUNY Cobleskill and SUNY Schenectady in partnership with Living Resources makes college doable by providing the guidance and support you need to successfully navigate college and graduate with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree(SUNY Cobleskill is a 4-year college, and SUNY Schenectady is a 2-year community college). Students work with our Academic Coordinator to develop an individualized plan and schedule based on the level of support they need to succeed in their classes. On both campuses, students have access to our own personal workroom for them to work in a supported environment. We provide these critical support services: • Academic tutoring for credited courses • Assistance communicating with professors and campus faculty • Organizational skills • Daily problem solving • Executive function support • Campus accommodation supports CareerNext students at SUNY Cobleskill live in campus housing, where they have the opportunity to meet new friends and thrive within the campus community, while growing both personally and academically within a safe and fun living environment. All student have a meal plan, which includes downtown dollars and flex points. If living without a roommate would be beneficial, CareerNext can help make that accommodation possible. CareerNext students at SUNY Schenectady live in College Suites at Washington Square, located right across the street from SUNY Schenectady. Each student has their own bedroom in a 4-bedroom furnished suite. This apartment-style facility offers a full range of modern amenities and is just minutes by foot from the many shops, cafes, theaters and other activities available in Schenectady’s revitalized downtown. There is light residential support in the evening hours, paired with lessons on menu planning, food shopping, and community involvement.
