St. Coletta of Greater Washington is a private; non-sectarian; non-profit organization that operates a school and adult day programs for children and adults with mental retardation and autism. Students are referred to St. Coletta by their local school jurisdiction or by educational advocates; courts; attorneys or parents. The adults are referred by the DDS in the District; DHMH in Maryland and CSBs(local Community Services Boards) in Virginia. Children are accepted for admission beginning at age three. Tuition and services are paid for by the local jurisdiction once it is determined that the child cannot be served in a public school setting. St. Coletta does not accept private pay students. Adult services are paid for by Medicaid with enhancement. in some cases; by the local jurisdiction.
