Our mission is to offer a universal design for fitness that empowers people of all abilities to exercise successfully in a socially integrated setting. SPIRIT Club provides supportive and accommodating fitness programs that aim to increase the health & wellness of people of ALL abilities, including people with physical & developmental disabilities, mental health & substance abuse disorders, and those impacted by age-related disease. S.P.I.R.I.T. is an acronym that represents our philosophy of ensuring programs are Social, Physical, Interactive, Respectful, Integrated and include Teamwork. SPIRIT Club strives to employ people with different abilities to lead & assist classes, and help maintain our administration and facility. SPIRIT Club supports over 300 people with different abilities including people who are nonverbal, those diagnosed with autism, Down syndrome, intellectual differences, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, CHARGE syndrome, muscular dystrophy, paralysis, stroke survivors and community members without any diagnosis. SPIRIT Club offers modifications and support that allows every person to successfully participate in exercise. All SPIRIT Club Head Trainers are certified Fitness Instructors through an NCCA accredited organization, and certified in Behavioral Principles & Strategies and MANDT through the Maryland DDA.
