PEERS® is for high functioning adolescents and young adults with autism or social communication challenges interested in learning and practicing relationship skills. Starting and ending conversations, handling disagreements, using humor appropriately, entering and exiting group conversations, handling bullying and teasing, planning get togethers, and finding a source of friends are some of the skills emphasized. Social coaching groups for parents or family members occur alongside student groups. Social coaching groups teach effective ways to support relationship skill development for the adolescent or young adult. The MoCo PEERS® Program is facilitated by Starobin Counseling, LLC & Jamell White, Ph.D. LCSW-C.
