Ashley VanCleef is not only an experienced education law attorney but also a certified special educator.  This past summer she received 36 hours in Orton Gillingham training and is scheduled to complete the 60 hours this fall.  Ashley has served students with disabilities as special education teacher, school and state level administrator, and school attorney.  Prior to forming Law for Parents, Ashley's experience as a special education attorney included working for the Law Office of Brian K. Gruber, P.C., staff attorney for Montgomery County Public School (MCPS) in Maryland, as well as Supervisor and 504 Coordinator for the MCPS Resolution and Compliance Unit. While in MCPS, Ashley instituted informal, collaborative solutions to assist families and school system staff to resolve concerns through the least adversarial means focusing on win-win resolutions.  As an attorney for parents, she continues to find dynamic approaches to resolving concerns with student-focused outcomes.

Jill has served on the Board of Directors of the First Maryland Disability Trust and the Planned Giving Advisory Council for the Kennedy Krieger Institute.She is the Baltimore County Coordinator for the Maryland State Bar Association’s annual Law Day. She is a member of the Baltimore Estate Planning Council, the Estates and Trusts and Elder Law Sections of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Estates and Trusts Committee of the Baltimore County Bar Association, and the Planned Giving Roundtable. She participates in the Estate and Gift Tax Study Group of the Maryland State Bar Association and volunteer for the Baltimore County Bar Association’s 60+ Program.She has lectured on estate planning, probate, and trust administration to diverse audiences, appeared on television, radio, and podcasts, and been published in print and on-line media sources. She is an author and presenter for the National Business Institute and hs served as an expert trial witness in estate-related litigation. She is a parent ambassador at the McDonogh School and sit on the Board of Directors of the Associated Jewish Charities.

Prior to opening her own practice, she worked as a senior attorney in the Division of Enforcement of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. She graduated cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center in 1995, and is admitted to practice in Maryland. Jill received her bachelor’s degree in Public Policy Studies from Duke University in 1992.

The Law Office of Kevin A. O’Brien is a Delaware-based firm focused exclusively on estate planning, estate administration and probate. The firm’s attorneys include Kevin and his son, Paul.

Attorney Kevin A. O’Brien has been in practice for more than three decades. After earning his law degree from Widener University School of Law, he was admitted to the Delaware State Bar Association in 1981.

Throughout his career, Kevin has earned the respect of clients as well as his colleagues in the Delaware legal community. In addition to his in-depth knowledge of estate law, he is also known for his honesty, his fairness, his patience and his dedicated service to clients.

In recent years, the firm has expanded to include Paul Anthony O’Brien, a Delaware native who grew up in Wilmington. While attending The Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law in Washington, D.C., Paul had the opportunity to work for United States Senator Tom Carper.

Paul O’Brien is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association as well as the Delaware State Bar Association. His work at the firm is focused primarily on estate planning, probate and trust administration and Medicaid planning.
