Having IEP team meetings facilitated by an independent, trained "facilitator" is rapidly becoming a popular means for parents and school personnel to reach agreement in the educational decision making process for students needing or suspected of needing special education services. The independent facilitator is a trained volunteer from a community mediation center, generally located in the jurisdiction where the student attends school, or in another community close to where the student attends school. The independent facilitator has completed a 50-hour training course in mediation skills, has experience mediating a variety of disputes, and has completed a 3-day training in IEP Team Meeting Facilitation. The independent facilitator is not a member of the IEP team and does not have a relationship with the school or the parents, other than to assist in the meeting. The independent facilitator remains neutral and focuses on the process while the team makes the decisions. There is no cost, to the parent or the school, tohave an independent facilitator assist in the IEP process.

Anyone who needs assistance with obtaining services or support for their child or family can call a Family Navigator. There is no eligibility requirement or fees to contact a Family Navigator. A Family Navigator can provide: information, referral and linkage to appropriate services for your child; One-to-one support and advocacy for your family; Guidance in completing forms and applications for services; Support at meetings related to your child, when possible; Education on laws, policies and procedures to access services for your child; and Workshops to inform you and other families on services and ways to effectively advocate for your child.Family Navigators also work in partnership with local agencies and participate on planning and advisory boards to provide a family perspective on policies and programs for children with special needs. Navigators make every effort to involve many families in leadership roles in their community.

We will spend most of the appointment discussing your child’s needs, answering questions you may have, and discussing strategies to help with your child’s oral health care.

Our patient and gentle staff will work with your child to provide a positive dental experience.  Services we provide on the first visit will depend on your child's age. They include examinations, cleanings, oral hygiene instructions, nutritional counseling, fluoride treatments, and sealants.
