The Autism Learning Center (ALC) was founded in September 1997 as a 501c3 nonprofit organization to meet the tremendous need for comprehensive ABA services for children with autism in Northern Virginia. Our BCBA Clinical Directors create individualized programs to meet the needs of each child based on clinical experience and research in applied behavior analysis. Our home-based services allow our ABA trained RBT(Registered Behavioral Technician) staff to provide intensive one-on–one therapy focusing not only on academic goals but also on all aspects of the child’s life. Our curriculum emphasizes communication skills based on Skinner’s theory of verbal behavior, a variety of self–help skills, and social skills, with a focus of generalization to the natural environment. With all activities, we emphasize increasing verbal behavior, spontaneity of language, and teaching in the child’s natural setting.

The Autism Project is a nonprofit organization that provides social skills groups; summer camps; sibling support groups; aquatic therapy; 1/2 day preK and family training to students and families in the Southern MD region. They also offer adult services including social groups; employment services; and independent living homes.

My name is Katie Holloran and I am a sleep coach and behavior specialist. I have a Masters in Special Education and have worked as a teacher or supporter of teachers and families for over 20 years. I give moms, dads and teachers the tools to have more rest while sprinkling in a little fun. I show them how to have more structure while creating their own version of joy. With clear, supportive strategies and tools that don’t take reading 45 books and earning a PhD to start, I have helped families and teachers all over the globe to get exactly what they want — kids who feel rested, happy, safe, and supported by those who love them most.

I have a Masters in Special Education and have worked as a teacher or supporter of teachers and families for over 20 years. On top of that, I have a National Board Certification in Behavior Analysis, which means I understand all aspects of human behavior - which is defined as anything we do in our environment. (That’s pretty much everything from sleeping to pooping to learning new things!) I teach others how to organize home and school lives to create positive behaviors while honoring their personal needs, beliefs, and priorities.

The Benedictine School is a coed day and residential school for individuals ages 5-21 with intellectual disabilites; multiple disabilities; and/or autism with a current capacity of 78 residential and 14 day students. We are certified by MSDE and DHR. Our comprehensive and well integrated educational and residential program is supplemented by special services which include psychological; pscyhiatric; social work; counseling; vocational/transition; speech/language; assistive technology; library/media/art; computer training; adaptive phys. ed.; aquatics; home life skills; 24 hr. nursing; and leisure ed. training. All services are provided within a therapeutic environment and employ consistency during all waking hours. The Benedictine School addresses the needs of the "whole person" and is oriented towards maximum independence vocationally; in community living and towards the development of a contributing member of society.
