The Children's SPOT offers Speech, Occupational and ABA therapy programming for children with a variety of cognitive disorders and developmental delays, including Autism Spectrum Disorder. Our therapists have a proven track record and extensive experience working with children in need of early intervention services through to young adulthood in the areas of augmentative and alternative communication, apraxia, articulation, receptive and expressive language disorders, gross and fine motor delays, handwriting, auditory processing, sensory dysfunction, behavior modification, academic instruction, vocational training and more. Our space is designed to have both individual and group sessions. We have 4 themed treatment rooms, a gym, multi sensory room and kitchen, ready to meet the needs of clients of varying ages and needs.

There are a wide variety of programs offered at the Cisco Center for pre-school and elementary aged children. Some of these are: Pre-K Early Intervention; Art: Sensory/Fine Motor/Language; Family and Child Advocacy; Father’s Group; Parent Workshops; Parents’ Night Out; Toddler Time; Social/Language Groups; Picky Eaters Clinic; Speech/Language Therapy.

The College Experience is a residential non-credit certificate program hosted at The College of Saint Rose in partnership with Living Resources. Through The College Experience, students with intellectual disabilities can practice living independently, make friends, intern at area businesses and become part of a diverse campus community. The objective of the program is to give students with intellectual disabilities opportunities similar to their siblings and high-school peers. These students have the chance to attend college in order to transition to independent adult life, but with accommodated instruction that addresses students needs for practical living and working skills. Students are enrolled in courses developed by The College Experience that support the goals of the program: Independent living, job readiness, and community involvement. In addition, students also take elective course offerings to supplement their schedule. Elective course offerings are driven by student requests. Students reside in off-campus housing run by The College Experience with other students in the program and practice executive functioning in their homes with the support of a Residential Assistant. As a part of the campus community, students are encouraged to take part in St. Rose activities as well as off-campus activities around the community.

We welcome any young adult with mild to moderate developmental disabilities who are on the threshold of adulthood and seek to continue their journey to independence.  We will work to guide, enrich, educate, and support participants as well as family members.  We want to change the way the world understands and appreciates the capabilities of people with special needs. My name is Pam. I am a mom of a daughter with developmental challenges. When my daughter graduated high school my husband and I saw our daughter fall into a void. She no longer had the social outlet that school brought her. While her peers were going off to college, getting jobs and becoming young adults in a fast-paced world my daughter was left hanging in the wind. She looked for jobs, took a few personal enrichment classes at the local community college, and volunteered here and there when there was a need, but she did not have a purpose. My husband and I had a lot of questions and we weren't sure where to go for answers. So, we began talking to people; parents of young adults with developmental differences, health care providers, friends, basically anyone who would take the time to share their experiences with us. We found that we all had questions, but we were able to share answers with each other as well. So, The Connection was born... We began as a social get together for a group of girls and have now grown into an organization that strives to help adults with mild to moderate challenges who may not be able to access independence as easily as the norm to reach their ultimate potential. https://www.facebook.com/theconnectionsomd/
