Expressive Speech and Feeding is a Reston / Herndon children’s speech therapy and feeding therapy private practice.

We help children, from birth to 18 years, speak clearly and cultivate human connection by better expressing their needs, personality and love. Oh, and we help them become less picky eaters too!

Janine has more than a decade of experience as a speech pathologist treating children with autism across school, outpatient medical and private practice settings.

She is licensed in speech therapy in Maryland, Virginia and Texas; certified by ASHA and served as a lead teacher for children with emotional-behavior disabilities early in her career.

She has been trained in PECS (picture exchange communication system), PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets), the Beckman Oral Motor protocol, and the SOS (Sequential Oral Sensory) approach to feeding.

Janine graduated with a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Gallaudet University and also earned a Master’s degree in Special Education from The George Washington University. She is a mother of two boys.

Expressive Therapy Center offers individual, family and group therapy using different modalities including art, movement and play therapy. They serve clients aged 4-26. Expressive Therapy Center also offers social skills groups.

We consider the relationship between our therapists and our clients to be of the utmost importance in providing successful therapy and we strive to match our clients to the therapist who will best suit them.Our therapists come from a variety of backgrounds, bringing their own distinctive experiences, strengths and specialties and utilizing a range of therapies, including art, play, movement and traditional talk therapy.Our ProcessAt Expressive Therapy Center we prioritize the initial discovery phase to ensure that we meet your needs. You can expect to speak with our Director, Stephanie Natter, M.A. ATR CGP, or a skilled clinician, who will take the time to gain a full understanding of the challenges facing you or your family before you commit your time and resources. You will then be carefully assigned to a therapist whose clinical background matches your therapeutic needs.An initial assessment will take place with your clinician. During that meeting, your therapist will gather additional background information, relevant history, and get to know you and/or your family member. We will then move forward to collaboratively develop an individualized treatment plan that works for you. We are a consortium of Psychologists, Social Workers, Counselors, and expressive therapists. In some cases, you and/or your family member may work with more than one clinician to address various concerns.*although we are not currently paneled with any one insurance company, most insurers will cover a portion of our fees assuming you have out-of-network benefits. In addition, check with us regarding other affordability options if no benefits exist.ETC does not follow the MCPS policy on snow closings and holidays.
