Therapeutic Recreation at Camp Schmidt is designed for teens and young adults ages 13-21 with disabilities who are currently enrolled in school. Staff to participant ratio is 1:4. Must be able to stay with the group; maintain behavior in a large group and able to function independently. 1:1 assistance/supervision is not provided in this program. Program activities are held outdoors on hilly; uneven natural surfaces that are not ADA accessible.

Therapeutic Recreation (TR) programs are designed to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities and facilitate the development of leisure and recreation skills, socialization, independence, and overall quality of life. Programs are highly structured utilizing trained staff, adapted equipment and activities accompanied by a high staff/participant ratio. They serve the needs of individuals with disabilities who are between the ages of 5 and 20.

Theraplay provides physical, occupational, speech and feeding therapy, concussion rehabilitation programs, and ABA and behavioral support services to children from birth to 21 years of age at outpatient locations and schools, and through early intervention/ home care services. Our Mission is to provide pediatric therapy services in a play environment that will enable a child to maximize their potential. Theraplay’s staff consists of highly skilled; pediatric experienced and licensed physical; occupational; and speech/language therapists; assistants and special educators. Every child is evaluated to identify their needs; and an individualized therapy program developed specific to that child.
