Since 1953, The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region (The Arc NCR) has helped people with differing abilities build better lives one person at a time. The Arc NCR currently offers the following services to individuals with differing abilities living in Harford and Cecil Counties:

• Supported Employment Services to adults
• Family Support Services to individuals (age 0-21) and their families, including advocacy at IEP meetings
• Services for Transitioning Youth
• Treatment Foster Care Services to children and their families
• Supported Living and Personal Support Services to adults
• Community Partners day program for adults

The Arc NCR supports people with differing abilities to create lives that mirror yours and mine: students attending neighborhood schools, adults going to work and living in their own homes, and individuals enjoying the social and recreational opportunities in their communities. We are a private, non-profit local chapter of The Arc Maryland and The Arc of the United States, the largest national community-based organization devoted exclusively to improving the quality of life for all adults and children with developmental disabilities.

FUNDING FOCUS: TRANSPORTATION - RIDES TO HEALTH PROGRAM

The Arc is the world's largest grassroots organization committed to the welfare of people with developmental disabilities and their families. The Arc of Prince George's County is one of over 700 Arc chapters nationwide. We are a membership organization and our 600 members include people with developmental disabilities, their families and friends, the professionals who work with them, and other concerned citizens.We offer a lifetime of support, understanding, and opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. By providing support through a variety of programs and services that match each person or family's individual needs, we ensure that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are given the skills, access, and information they need to fully participate as citizens in their communities.

The Arc of Southern Maryland provides adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities with safe and supportive residential housing services. The Arc operates over 30 residential homes located in neighborhoods throughout Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s counties. The Arc provides round the clock support to ensure that consumers are afforded the opportunity to live in a nurturing environment that promotes personal growth and community inclusion. Through The Arc of Southern Maryland’s Community Supported Living services, adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities that live independently in their own homes are provided with daily or as-needed support. Our staff supports individuals with a variety of activities and tasks based on their personal goals and objectives.  Examples of personal goals and objectives include:

• The creation of a lifestyle plan
• Identification of transportation options in the area
• Shopping for groceries & other necessities
• Daily chores
• Personal care
• Financial management (establishment of weekly budget and balancing a checkbook)
• Participation in community events and activities

Founded in 1952, The Arc of Washington County is a statewide leader providing comprehensive, quality supports for adults and children with intellectual or developmental disabilities (I/DD) in Western Maryland. Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide around-the-clock personalized care, helping individuals live more inclusive and independent lives. Through the personalized care provided by the DSPs, people supported set and achieve their own goals, expand their horizons, learn to self-advocate, and maximize their opportunities. Each program is designed with a person-centered approach – a guided process for learning how someone wants to live at home, at work, or in the community and developing a plan to make that happen.
