Monica Martinez founded Martinez Advocacy to help families navigate the process of obtaining and maintaining educational accommodations and special education services for their children in Montgomery County, Maryland. Monica knows from lived experience how challenging securing these services and accommodations for your child can be – she began her journey by advocating for her autistic son.

Monica lives in Montgomery County, MD, with her husband and neurodivergent twin sons. You can often find her out on the cycling trails training for the xMinds annual Bike to the Beach fundraiser.

The Marvels Team is dedicated to children ages 5 to 11 that have intellectual and/or physical disabilities and a passion and desire to participate in a team sport. The purpose of this team is to take the "dis" out of disability and celebrate a player's individuality.  Players will work on skills such as throwing, catching, hitting, fielding, and understanding the game.  Players will partake in  5-6 practices on Sunday mornings­, lasting approximately 45 – 60 minutes each. Parents and siblings will have the opportunity to participate during some practices.  During the final week, we will send the season with a celebration and the players will compete in a baseball game. Every player will receive a uniform that consists of a hat and jersey. There are no registration fees for the Marvels Team as we want to provide experiences that are stress free for players and their families. As you know, we are a Non-Profit organization in which these opportunities have only been made possible by the generosity of families, organizations and businesses in our community.  We are grateful to be able to provide these programs and are appreciative of all continued support. I am an Occupational Therapist specializing in working with children ages 2-11with diagnoses of Autism, ADD/HD, Executive motor functions, Sensory Integration Dysfunction, Developmental Delays, Aspergers Syndrome and other motor difficulties. I am SIPT certified and have been a practicing OT for 26 years. Please contact me for information on 1:1 OT sessions or social skills/social thinking groups offered on a weekly basis.I am pleased to announce that I am able to have 4 weeks of my summer camp, Sensation Station for the summer of 2015. The weeks are starting July 20th and ending August 14th. Hours are from 9:00-2:00, Mon.-Fri.I am excited to be able to offer a Saturday OT camp on 2 Saturdays per month. The Partners for Success Parent Center provides information and training to parents on disabilities; transition; the IEP process; special education programs; current special education legislation and initiatives. The center has a lending library; and an informational resource referral bank. The Partners for Success Parent Center sponsors and participates in community resource fairs and events.
