The Family Support & Resource Center, established as part of each local school system in Maryland, have as their goal the provision of knowledge and the development of essential skills fundamental to parents and professionals working together as equal partners in the educational decision making process. Specifically, Partners for Success Centers seek to: increase parental involvement in the special education decision making process; provide information and resources about disabilities and community services; assist families in resolving concerns and to make informed decisions regarding their child?s education; and increase collaborative relationships through information and training. The Purpose of the Maryland School Psychologists’ Association is to: promote the interests of school psychology as a science and profession aligned with the school’s purpose of helping children learn, to sponsor and promote studies and continued professional development activities in the field of school psychology, to stimulate identification and communication of topics of mutual interest among psychologists working in the schools and to support such efforts made by local groups of school psychologists, and to encourage and support legislation pursuant to the above purposes.

FUNDING FOCUS: TECHNOLOGY

The Assistive Technology Loan program helps Maryland residents with disabilities and their families qualify for low-interest loans to buy equipment that will help them live, work, and learn more independently."Assistive Technology" is any device that helps a person with a disability live more independently and productively. It includes: Wheelchairs, Motorized Scooters, Braille Equipment, Scanners, Hearing and vision aids, Telecommunications devices for the deaf (TTY), Augmentative communication systems, Environmental control units, Computers and adaptive peripherals, Building modifications for accessibility, Motor vehicles and vehicle modifications, and many other devices. Loans may also be used to pay for training to use equipment, extended warranties, and maintenance plans.
