The Assistive Technology Loan program helps Maryland residents with disabilities and their families qualify for low-interest loans to buy equipment that will help them live, work, and learn more independently."Assistive Technology" is any device that helps a person with a disability live more independently and productively. It includes: Wheelchairs, Motorized Scooters, Braille Equipment, Scanners, Hearing and vision aids, Telecommunications devices for the deaf (TTY), Augmentative communication systems, Environmental control units, Computers and adaptive peripherals, Building modifications for accessibility, Motor vehicles and vehicle modifications, and many other devices. Loans may also be used to pay for training to use equipment, extended warranties, and maintenance plans.

Marylands Technology Assistance Program (MD TAP)provides assistive technology services available to every Maryland resident with a disability, providing tools to help Marylanders with disabilities and seniors enjoy the same rights and opportunities as other citizens. Our free services include equipment demonstrations, equipment loans, a device-exchange program, training, and public awareness initiatives. We manage two low-interest financing programs for the purchase of assistive technology and provide access to cooperative buying discounts on AT purchases. MD TAP is a program of the Maryland Department of Disabilities and coordinates with two regional offices to deliver these free AT services to Marylanders across the state.

Founded in 1996 , MTR's year-round programs include Adaptive RIding/ Therapeutic Riding (taught by certified PATH Intl. riding instructors) and Occupational, Speech, and Physical therapy incorporating hippotherapy into a client's plan of care (conducted by licensed physical, occupational, or speech-language pathologists). Instructor training and therapist-in-training programs are also offered. MTR is a Premier Operating Center accredited by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, International (PATH Intl). Mobility / Paratransit is a specialized, curb-to-curb service for people with disabilities who are not able to ride fixed-route public transportation, including lift-equipped buses. There is no age limit to apply. Parents can apply for their children and ride for free, with the child as the Mobility client, and the parent as a PCA (personal care attendant).Mobility service is provided within three-quarters of a mile of any fixed-route service in Baltimore City and Baltimore & Anne Arundel counties. The term "fixed-route" refers to Local Bus, Light Rail, or Metro Subway routes operated by the MTA. Mobility service is not offered within three-quarters of a mile of Commuter Bus or MARC Train routes.Fare: The one-way cash fare on Mobility service is $1.85.For your convenience, pre-paid books of 20 Mobility tickets are sold for $37.00 at the MTA Transit Store located in the lobby of 6 St. Paul Street. The tickets have no expiration date.
