When you are sitting in a meeting where complex terminology is being discussed and the future of your child’s education is at stake, you want someone sitting next to you who has chaired over 500 IEP meetings. Liz Capone is a Special Education Advocate in Maryland, DC, and Virginia. She has 21 years of Special Education teaching experience in DC, Fairfax, Howard, Prince George's, Baltimore, and Montgomery Counties, and has taught all grades, pre-K through 12. Liz is also a certified expert witness in Special Education, and has testified in over 60 due process hearings. Liz will break down the entire IEP process for you from an insider’s point of view, so you can come to meetings with an arsenal of knowledge and confidence.

Aaron’s Acres provides year-round, recreational programs to children, ages 5-21 with special needs, including those on the Autism Spectrum. The focus of all of our programs is on socialization and communication skills. Through a variety of activities (horseback riding, music therapy, swimming, and group games), our professional staff as well as our undergraduate students (studying social work, special education, and occupational therapy) assist and support the children on an individual basis. We have 1-1 or 1-2 staff to child ratio which allows for immediate and appropriate intervention for each child. We have a group called the A-Team which is comprised of teenagers (ages 13-17) who have a diagnosis of Aspergers. In this group, they work on their social skills while participating in teenage-like activities in the community (i.e. bowling, movies, etc.). The A-Team meets during the school year as well as during the summer.
